Shipping a card is a great gift idea for someone you care about. Plus, mailing a greeting card or thank you note back to the United States or Canada is not difficult at all. You also must remember to allow up to three weeks for the delivery. It may make it to it's destination early, but seriously do not count on it if you are on a deadline!
First, to fill out the front of the envelope, you need to write the return address the same as you would if you were sending it in the States. Next, for the recipient's address, the only additional text you have to add is another line for stating the USA or Canada. Last, after inserting your card into the envelope, be sure to seal the flap closed with a few pieces of Scotch tape.
To mail our cards, we have always used the Correos (post office) in Centro; it is located on Borrero and Gran Columbia. The building is open from 8AM to 6PM, every Monday through Friday. But, be sure to go early in the morning to miss the big crowds and long lines. The price to mail a greeting card to the States is currently only $5.80.
All of our family members that has received a card, were completely overwhelmed by it. The idea of seeing an envelope with so many postage stamps from Ecuador and wherever it had landed, is very impressive. Plus, with Katy Cards, it is like they will also receive a souvenir stating it was made and sold exclusively in Cuenca. How cool is that?
